Copyright and Licensing Policy
Copyright and Licensing Policy
- Copyright Ownership
Copyright in a published manuscript remains with the author or authors. Authors are not required to transfer copyright ownership to the Journal of Sustainable Research in Humanities (JSRHS).
Authors retain the right to use their published work in ways that are consistent with the licensing terms granted to the journal and readers under this policy.
- Right of First Publication
The author or authors grant the journal the right of first publication of the accepted manuscript, together with the non-exclusive rights necessary to publish the work, make it available electronically, index and archive it, and make it accessible through databases, scholarly repositories, and digital preservation services with which the journal cooperates.
This grant does not constitute a transfer of copyright ownership from the authors to the journal.
- Licensing
The journal publishes accepted articles under the following license:
Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0)
Under this license, readers and other users may copy, distribute, share, quote, adapt, and create derivative works from the published article for non-commercial purposes, provided that they:
- Give appropriate credit to the author or authors.
- Cite the journal and identify the original source of publication.
- Indicate whether any modifications have been made to the work.
- Do not use the work for commercial purposes in accordance with the terms of the license.
The license does not grant users the right to imply or claim that the author(s) or the journal endorse a particular use of the work.
- Authors’ Rights After Publication
Following publication, authors may use the published version of their article for legitimate academic and scholarly purposes, including:
- Depositing the published version in institutional or scholarly repositories.
- Sharing the article through academic profiles and scholarly networks.
- Using the article for teaching and other academic activities.
- Including the article in theses, dissertations, and scholarly projects.
- Citing and reusing the work in accordance with the terms of the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
- Open Access
The journal provides immediate, free, and open access to the full text of published articles without requiring a subscription or charging readers for reading or downloading, and without an embargo period.
The terms of the applicable open license apply to published content, subject to any third-party materials or elements within an article for which the authors do not hold the relevant rights, such as images, tables, or materials reproduced from other sources. The copyright status of such materials must be clearly indicated, and the necessary permissions must be obtained where applicable.
- Authors’ Responsibility for Rights
Upon submission, the author or authors confirm that they hold the necessary rights to the material submitted for publication and that the manuscript does not infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of others.
Authors are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions to use third-party materials, including images, tables, figures, text, and any other materials requiring permission, and for properly acknowledging and citing their sources.
- Compatibility of Copyright and Licensing
No agreement or arrangement between the authors and the journal shall be interpreted or applied in a manner that conflicts with the terms of the CC BY-NC 4.0 license applicable to the published article.
Authors retain their copyright, and the journal’s policy does not involve any exclusive transfer of intellectual property rights or commercial rights to the journal.
- Licensing of the Journal Website
The copyright and licensing provisions set out in this policy apply to articles and research papers published by the journal. They do not automatically mean that all elements of the journal’s website, logo, design, or administrative content are subject to the same license unless expressly stated otherwise.
The journal clearly identifies the licensing status of each published article on the article’s webpage and in the published version of the article.
