Abstract

This study aims to analyze the tourism function of the road network and its role in supporting and developing coastal tourism in the study area, and its effective impact on diversifying local income sources, especially since the region is qualified with its potential and distinctive beaches that help diversify the tourism product. The study also addressed defining coastal tourism, its most important components, the challenges it faces, and proposals to contribute to its development. The study clarified the close relationship between the development of tourism and tourist transport, and this came through the example of the coastal road, whether the current one or the project that is seeking to implement it, and the resulting development in tourism activities represented in the popularity of coastal tourism and its expansion across the entire coast of the study area. The study adopted the descriptive and analytical methods and used field tools such as questionnaires and personal interviews. The study reached several results, most notably the absence of a governmental role in supporting and activating the tourism investment law, and the scarcity of financial allocations for the tourism sector within development programs at the state level.
