This study examines the current status and future prospects of green energy development in Libya by analyzing the country's natural potential in the field of renewable energy, particularly solar and wind energy, as well as the political, economic, and institutional challenges that hinder the development of this sector. The study adopts a descriptive–analytical approach to assess the reality of the energy sector in Libya and to explore the prospects of energy transition in light of global transformations related to environmental issues and the fight against climate change. The findings indicate that Libya possesses significant potential for the development of renewable energy due to its strategic geographical location in North Africa overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, as well as its high solar radiation levels. However, effectively utilizing these resources requires the adoption of clear national policies, strengthening the legislative and institutional framework, and promoting investment and international cooperation in the renewable energy sector.
