This study aimed to examine the mediating role of information technology in the relationship between knowledge management processes and organizational performance. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach. Primary data were collected using a questionnaire developed based on relevant literature and previous studies and distributed to a sample of academic and administrative leaders and faculty members at Libyan higher education institutions. A total of 324 valid questionnaires were obtained for statistical analysis. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS software, along with a range of descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to assess the quality of the research instrument and test the study hypotheses.
The findings revealed that information technology plays a positive mediating role in the relationship between knowledge management processes and organizational performance. This indicates that the utilization of technological infrastructure enhances the effectiveness of knowledge identification, creation, storage, sharing, and application processes, thereby strengthening their contribution to improving organizational performance. These findings highlight the importance of integrating knowledge resources with technological infrastructure to enhance performance and achieve organizational excellence in Libyan higher education institutions.
