Wordtune is an artificial intelligence -powered writing tool designed to enhance users' writing skills.
Although AI- powered writing tools are gaining attention in education, research on their impact on EFL learners' writing skills remains limited, especially in the Libyan context. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the impact of Wordtune on the academic writing of English majors during the 2024/2025 academic year. A quasi-experimental design was employed, with 51 participants from the English Department at the Faculty of Education, Misurata University, Libya. The participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group (n = 31) and a control group (n = 20). Data were collected through pre- and post-tests. The results revealed that the experimental group outperformed the control group, indicating that Wordtune significantly improved students' writing performance. Based on these findings, the study recommends integrating Wordtune into classroom instruction to support writing development.
